A new Florida home insurer just opened for new business

Orange Insurance Exchange, a Florida-based reciprocal insurance exchange, opened three property products for new business on September 1: HO-3 for homeowners, HO-6 for condo owners, and DP-3 for dwelling fire and rentals. The company says it distributes through a network of independent agents, and it plans to add commercial lines in early 2027. A reciprocal exchange is owned by its own policyholders rather than outside shareholders.

Every new carrier that starts writing in Florida is one more quote on the table. That matters most for the homes that have been hardest to place: older roofs, condo units, and rentals, where the HO-6 and DP-3 forms often come down to whoever is still writing that risk this month. New entrants also tend to price competitively while they build a book. Worth knowing: Orange sells only through independent agents, so it will not show up on a direct quote site or a captive agent's system no matter how many forms you fill out.

An independent agent can put your home in front of the newer Florida carriers alongside the established ones and compare what each will actually write.
