Florida property insurance rates: why they may keep easing in 2026
National coverage still frames Florida property insurance as a runaway crisis, but industry voices inside the state see a different 2026. After the 2022 and 2023 legal reforms curbed litigation abuse, new capital and new carriers have entered, and several insurers have filed for flat or lower rates.
The relief is uneven, though. Reinsurance costs, one bad hurricane season, or a return of heavy litigation could slow or reverse the trend. Your own renewal still turns on roof age, county, wind-mitigation credits, and your Coverage A amount.
If your premium spiked during the hard market, this is a good year to have an independent agent re-shop your policy across the newer carriers before you auto-renew.
