Florida multifamily insurance costs fell 6.2% in 2025, according to data reported by CRE Daily, after several years of increases well above the national trend. Costs went the other way in most other states, rising roughly 3.4%. Florida had been one of the worst markets in the country for apartment owners, so a drop of this size reads as a real shift rather than noise.
Commercial numbers tend to lead personal lines by a few quarters, because the same carriers, reinsurers, and litigation environment drive both. If you own a rental duplex, a small apartment building, or a commercial property in Florida, this is the year to test the market instead of renewing on autopilot. The same goes for homeowners. A quote you got in 2024 tells you very little about what your address prices at now.
Softening markets reward the people who shop. An independent agent can re-shop your property coverage across multiple carriers and show you whether the decline reached your policy or stopped short of it.
