Which trucks cost the least to insure? The vehicle matters.
Mercury Insurance published a ranking of the 10 most affordable new pickup trucks to insure for 2026, with Chevrolet taking the top two spots. Pickups are one of the most common vehicles on Florida and Texas roads, and the spread between models is wider than most buyers expect.
Insurance cost belongs in the buying decision, not after it. Two trucks with similar sticker prices can price very differently once a carrier looks at repair costs, parts availability, theft rates, crash-test results, and which safety systems come standard. A truck loaded with driver-assist features and a well-supported parts supply is cheaper to cover than one that needs specialty body panels. Get a real quote on the VIN or trim you are considering before you sign, because the premium follows you for as long as you own it.
An independent agent can quote two or three vehicles you are weighing and re-shop your existing auto policy across carriers at the same time.
